Bird control in corn and cereal fields

In corn and cereals, bird damage usually starts after sowing, while the seed is in the ground and shoots are emerging. In rice and corn, ripening can also be critical. A bird scare cannon helps manage these periods on large fields.

Timing

Crows and pigeons target seed and young shoots. As grain ripens in rice and corn, pressure from sparrows and starlings can increase. Focus operation on these periods.

Which model?

If bird activity peaks in the morning and evening, consider Pro Basic with day, night or 24-hour modes; if you need several operating windows, consider PRO3.

Placement in the field

Watch where birds come into the field and where they roost nearby. Place the cannon on that side so the sound spreads over the field.

  • Set up the device right after sowing, before birds get used to the field.
  • Stop the device or move it to another field once the shoots are established.
  • Use the rotating tripod and regular moves to keep the sound unpredictable.
  • Respect local noise rules and nearby homes.

Thanks to the portability of the mechanical models, one device can easily be used on several fields during the season.

Frequently asked questions

Can it be used in rice paddies?

Yes. Set the device up on firm, level ground or on a bund where it will not stand in water.

How long after sowing should I use it?

Usually until the shoots are strong enough that birds cannot pull them. This varies by crop and region.

Can I use one device on several fields?

Yes. If critical periods fall at different times, you can move the device from field to field.
